Host Contracts for Agencies: The Clauses That Decide Who Keeps the Room

Updated 2026-11-02 · Sources & methodology noted inline

An agency's product is really a promise: we will staff your live room with a trained host, on schedule, every week. Host contracts are what make that promise survivable. When a host quits mid-quarter — and hosts quit mid-quarter — the contract decides whether you lose a person or lose the client. This article is operational guidance from live-commerce practice, not legal advice; have a lawyer in your state review any template before you sign a host to it.

A composite cautionary case: an agency running three brand rooms lost its best host in November, peak season, with two weeks of email notice and nothing in writing about the account. The host had been streaming from her personal TikTok account the whole time. The audience followed her, not the brand. The client churned in January and honestly, I can't blame them. Every clause below exists because of some version of that story.
